A sailing trip planned for the Falkland islands started to go badly wrong after just the first day, an unexpected storm came in from the north that lasted for four days, with force 10 winds, 3 knot currents and no anchor, we drifted at sea for almost a week. We missed cape horn by just 3km as we headed into Drakes Passage.
One cold and eerie morning, waking up to still waters and the thunderous sounds of icebergs cracking as they collided with one another, I took this image at the most extreme distance from land I have ever been. 465km from the southernmost tip of South America, 60°10'25.0"S 61°12'52.0"W.
