Taken at Bahía Inútil in Tierra del Fuego, this was my first encounter with King Penguins and remains my most intimate image of the species. Standing side by side, the pair are framed by just the sea and sky, both rendered as soft bands of pastel colour beyond the birds.
This image is defined by its simplicity. The rich orange markings of the penguins contrast against the cool blues of the South Atlantic.
