This was an extremely rare and close encounter with a snowy owl at dusk in Argyll, Scotland and took me by surprise, they are from the Arctic and are very rarely seen in the UK. Staring head on into the camera were those almost glowing orange eyes, unlike anything I have seen in an animal before or since, a beautiful and surreal experience.
